The World of Gaming and Football through the eyes of a Rambler...

The Gaming Gods have spoken.

Oh yes, its that time of the year once again. Its the release of the brand spanking new Football Manager. I have been an avid fan of FM since 2005; prior to that - playing the CM series since CM97 (when Trevor Sinclair was one of the best players in the game.)

I haven't attempted the demo, I just want to play it completely fresh to see what its going to be like and I for one cannot wait!!!

This weekend however, I am going clubbing dressed in something that has to include a cape or some kind, so I wont really be around to play or try it out, but Monday it will begin. Of course I will be doing a Spurs game, but the real fun ones come with the low end league clubs (the Eastbourne Borough game I am doing now on Fm09 is particularly epic) taking them to the depths of the premiership. Fantastic.

I will do a 'running' story of my game in three separate posts; Pre-season, First half and finally second half of the season. I'll probably get bored with Spurs in the game, so ill definately be trying out a low end club. Possibly Lincoln City (I lived about 5 yards from their ground for 3 years, so I watched many a game) and attempt to get them into the Champions League.

Back to Spurs: Great to see us getting a relatively easy win against Everton last night. I havent seen any footage unfortunately, but I've read a couple of reports and it did seem like a breeze for most parts of the game. Our 'Russian Mafia Boss' still hasn't scored this season and should of done on numerous occasions last night apparently.

I refused to watch MOTD last weekend, I probably would of put a hole in something if I did. Reading match reports was enough for me.

Big game this weekend. Chants of '4-2 and you fucked it up' will be ringing out for the entire game I hope. Ill make sure I get to see the game, hungover or not.

Finally: Stadium. Wow. That is all.

RE: Our season to date - Fireworks and semtex

Yes, yes I know I haven't posted on here for a while. Sorry.

I have wanted to update this for some-time now, but just havent been able to get round to it properly with any sort of meaningful posts. So where were we?

Christ, 25th August was the last update. Phew; alot has gone on since then.

We have had:

Doncaster 1-5 Spurs
Spurs 2-1 Birmingham
Spurs 1-3 Manchester UTD
Chelsea 3-0 Spurs
Preston 1-5 Spurs
Spurs 5-0 Burnley
Bolton 2-2 Spurs

A mixed bag of results. Great to see we are still a strong cup team (albeit against weaker opposition, does anyone remember a few seasons back against Grimsby? Yeh, well I do) nb: for those that dont, we lost 1-0 in extra time. But today I am not here to talk about the CC and any other cup.

Its painfully clear that we were out played and outclassed against the Chelsea and UTD. They are indeed bitter pills to swallow due to our fantastic form against the top clubs last season. Are we doing a slight role-reversal from last season, where we cant beat the top (Liverpool dont count. sorry) teams but can really get stuck in and get RESULTS against the lower teams?

For instance, we were shocking against Bolton and Brum. Still managed to get 4 points. I Feel great seeing us in 3rd, but still cant quite shake the feeling that 'You know this aint gonna last'. Infact I said that exact thing to an Arsenal friend who's responce to this (just after they drummed Blackburn) was a simple 'Yep. probably.'

Its all fireworks and semtex at then moment.

Fireworks : oooo ahhh pretty. Goal?! Great. well played. ooooohhhhh Lennon skinned him. ahhhh. etc.

Semtex: BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HUTTON HOW DID YOU LET HIM GET PAST YOU THAT EASILY?! WHAT THE FUCKKKKKKKKK.

Hutton is a topic that is starting to bug me. He has the ability, we all know he does but just lacks confidence. It is clear to see that as soon as he comes on, opponents go try and play down the left because its easy to get round him. Drogba did it with ease. On more than once occasion; made worse still by the fact that it is obvious the players show little confidence in him. In recent times, he has all we have been able to call upon due to our makeshift defence, but I would at least expect a half decent performance from a fast wing back who cost us a whopping 8million. Thank fuck Dawson is back now. Corluka can move back to his rightful position and Hutton can STAY AWAY.

Right now, our current situation is this:

We lost to Chelsea and UTD. We weren't good enough. It wasn't even a tactical fuck-up imo, just that we were outclassed from start to finish. Thats that. Move on. The teams we HAVE to beat are as follows:

Man City
Everton
Aston Villa
Sunderland
Arsenal (pride. nomore. no less)

You can see where I'm going with this can't you? Beat the teams around us and we stand a great chance. Winning games against the top 4 are a bonus. Arsenal are included in my 'teams we must beat' section due to our need to retake some form of pride. With our shaky defence at the moment, I don't hold out much hope.

And finally:

Please start with Gomes 'Arry.
