The Last week:
Apologies for a lack of update, been a busy little bee.
From watching the past three games, we really have had all areas of the spectrum. The sheer tactical masterclass against Liverpool, the apsolute domination against Hull and the hard fought 'didnt play very well but still won anyway' against West Ham.
West Ham suprised me, they do tend to just roll over and die but they didn't on Sunday and fair play to them on that. Maybe that was them gearing up for the massive match with Millwall tonight. Cole had a fantastic game for them, battled Bassong and King brilliantly which was great to watch. Sadly poor bugger did a through ball Modric would of been proud of to allow Defoe to claim another goal against the Hammers.
Ive noticed that Clattenburg (the ref) has been getting alot of stick from Spurs fans after his performance on Sunday, which bemuses me. There were some dodgey tackles, Parker and probably Jiminez could of received their marching orders and Faubet could of been suspended for lashing out. But in all honesty, to the spectator and the non supporting viewer on ESPN (which I think is a GREAT channel) it made the game great. A real dogged battle between two London teams. I'd like to think that Clattenburg knew this and tried to keep the game flowing as much as possible. It was great to see a referee being human and actually allowing the game to play, ebb and flow - without having to stop every 5 seconds for the odd shirt tug.
I like referees with some form of personality and a brain rather than a robot with a rulebook.
Modric has come out and stated that leaving Spurs has not even crossed his mind. Great way to put ANY form of speculation to rest. He loves it here and by the way he is playing, it is clearly obvious too. Doubters have stated 'the seed has been planted' but in all honesty, I cannot see him going. He is a loyal person, just look at how long he stayed at Dinamo Zagreb while plenty clubs were sniffing after him there. He didnt take his eye off the ball, kept playing and kept scoring. Unlike a certain Mr. Lescott who had a pre-pubescent sulk because he was told to stay where he was, until he got his own way and was pictured grinning outside Man City training ground like a 15 yr old who just had a shag.
Pavulychenko wants out. Not much I can say on that one really as it is all speculation at the moment. No point in going into one.
We have Doncaster Rovers next in the Carling Cup. Looking forward to seeing how Harry handles this situation. Does he rest all our key players? Or go out all guns blazing?
Keep the faith and COYS!

Spurs win? Must be because the other lot played shite..
Commentators/ Pundits - take note.
Why is it that virtually every commentator/ pundit have not given the credit that Spurs deserve. We masterminded the victory against the scousers; had them in our pocket for the entire match- sorry scratch that, Palacios had them in his back pocket for the entire match.
It was great to see Palacios and Hudd link up so brilliantly throughout the game. Did that get much mention? Well once, but it remains to be seen just how well we played. Bare in mind, this is not a direct shove towards Andy Gray; everyone knows just how much he loves Gerrard - and thats great I suppose if your a Liverpool fan, but if your going to just make excuses for a below-par performance, surely that is not punditry, or even journalism.
They might as well have stuck Andy Gray in the fanzone box, let Jamie Gascoigne do his 'dancy dancy' routine around him.
Ok, enough about Andy Gray - even the good 'ol BBC MOTD2 team just couldnt fathom Spurs actually playing well and leaving it to 'Liverpool having a bad day at the office'.
Having said that, Ledders is more than happy to be playing under the radar as he said on SSN, which would sort-of link up with one of the first posts I put on here a while back- so I guess all's well that ends well. Are we to become the new Everton? Slowly going a bout our business? Winning but always being shown last on MOTD?
I'd take being played last on MOTD over being over-hyped flops anyday of the season.
And finally: 'Arry has stated that Bentley and JJ are NOT for sale. [I'm ready to dab into my pinch of salt now]

JJ Hoax?
Originally, on the Spurs site it stated that 'Jenas is a doubt for Sunday', yet when I look today the post is gone?
ITK's are swarming over this and apparently JJ is joining Villa by the end of the week (err tomorrow then?) for a fee reported to be £10million.
Well, seeing as I havent been 'in this game' for very long; I havent necessarly had the chance to get my feelings across over him. So here we go. For some reason, I have the urge to talk about him in the form of a school report (fuck knows why)
Name: Jermaine Jenas
Class: Midfield (Box-to-box)
Grade: C-
Notes:
When he applys himself, he is a hard worker who will come out top of the class (see 5-1 vs Arsenal) but rarely does. Lacks confidence in himself and doesn't deal with pressure well. If he makes a mistake, he does have a tendancy to go missing for the rest of the day. His grades have slumped since his tutor Mr. Ramos left last year and has seemed to be in a long lasting sulk over an extensive period of time.
I also get the impression that some of the other children call him names. I have been told before by one of the other teachers that he was called Dhalsim - a popular character from the game Street Fighter, by many others and isn't enjoying his time in the playground.
Overall, he is a friendly person who (when applys himself) can be one of the best in the class and even the school. He enjoys playing football in the playground, but its a shame he hasn't been picked for the school football team. Good but could do better.
Mr. Levy - School Headmaster.
But seriously, he is a decent player but lacks the confidence/ self belief/ arrogance of the Gerrards and Lampards of this world. If this is true and he does leave for Villa? Well good luck to him I say.
ps. Nice to see Darren 'Do I want to join Sunderland? Yes' Bent scored on his debut. He's going to do well there and I for one sault him!

Consistancy? Just ask a West Ham fan.
The new season kicks off tomorrow and I for one cannot wait.
It's going to be interesting to see how we kick off this campaign, with our non-existant hype (with thanks to Man City for taking that from us.) Lets start with the first 5 games.
Game 1: Spurs vs Liverpool
A tough game to start the season with. Id doubt very much either team would want to play each other to start a season. Liverpool are tipped for the title, while we are still in a transitional period. You never know; after all we are one of only two sides to beat them away from home last season. Loosing Alonso and having their 'replacement' Aquilani (sp?) injured for the first few weeks could give us a slight advantage. Gerrard and Torres will be ever present as per usual, so our makeshift defence will have their hands full. Woodgate and Daws look like reasonably long term injuries, so its down to the 'wonderkid' Bassong and a half-fit King to defend the wave of high-class attacking football that the scousers bring to the table.
If Lennon continues the form he showed last season, then we are in with a BIG shout to at least grab a draw. How good are the odds for Crouch to score on his debut?
CY Prediction: 2-2
Game 2: Hull vs Spurs
As stated previous, Hull seem to be in effect, punching above their weight in players (Negredo etc) and loosing out to the prolific goal scoring machine that is Bobby Zamora to mention one (there are countless more they missed out on) so I cant really see them being a large knot in the hose that is our premier league season. Geovanni will cause problems (he seems to do well early on in the season) but their biggest downfall is their 1-dimentional play which is the fault of Mr. Brown. They got sussed out towards December of last year and never really got going again. I can see them scoring 1 maybe 2 against us (shoddy defence) but our strikeforce will be too overpowering.
CY Prediction: 1-3
Game 3: West Ham vs Spurs
Ahhh yes, the pikeys. With Carlton Cole in the form of his life, I can actually see them doing quite well this season, maybe nicking a EUROPA spot come May. West Ham are a bizzare team that suffer from the beast that is known as: inconsistancy. With Zola on board, they seem to have minimized their trademarks of beating Man Utd and loosing to Charlton the next week, but not removed it. They were woeful in China, but thats pre-season; we ALL know what pre-season means....
However, we seem to always do well against the Pikeys, Defoe especially.
CY Prediction: 1-2
Game 4: Spurs vs Birmingham
Remember the Larsson goal? The one that flew in from nowhere, while 95% of the starting XI were still suffering from the hangovers of our Carling Cup glory the week previous? Time for some revenge me thinks. We need to destroy the low-end clubs; it is imperative to our season. Sends a message to other clubs by saying 'OI YOU... BEAT THAT'.
CY Prediction: 4-0
^^ Optimistic I know, but we are capable of this.
Game 5: Spurs vs Manchester Utd
Oh. We had to get 2 of the big 4 in our first 5 matches didnt we? We seem to always do well against UTD (except 5-2 last season and 3-5 a few seasons back) giving them a right run for their money. My head says 1-0 to UTD, heart says 1-1. Rooney will have the best season of his career this time round, now that the focus is directly on him. Fingers crossed we will have Woody/ Daws back by this point, as Bassong will not be good enough to face him.
CY Prediction: 0-1
10 points from 5 games
Doesn't sound too bad does it? That'd put us right in the mix and set us up for a decent enough season.
Is that too much to ask? A little consistancy goes a long way. Just ask a West Ham fan.

Sir I would like that stricken off the record
RE: Tottenham
As you may or may not have seen, my first shiney blog post ever summarised this:
'Spurs have had a reasonably quiet off- period, which can ultimately lead us to success'.
Yes yes, I sat there and slagged Bentley off for no real reason, but now I actually DO have one. There hasnt been much of this in the press (as of yet), but low and behold - Sir Bentley (you know the one? He cost 15mill, crowd surfed at a Kings of Leon gig, chipped a ball in a skip for 15,000 quid, scored a magical goal against the gooners, played the worst game of his life against Burnley etc? Oh yea HIM) well he got arrested for driving under the influence and had some form of crash. Next day (infact how I found out) low and behold, on the spurs site we see another statement of apology claiming to be from the player himself (albeit I'll put most of my possessions on it being from the spokesperson; as there appear to be too many 'big words')
I just dont understand the guy whatsoever. He just cannot keep himself out of trouble on or off the pitch. Is this down to lifestyle? The 'playboy' image? The fact that he sees himself as some form of FOOTBALL GOD who cannot do any wrong? Tell that to the fans who travelled to Turf Moor on a freezing night in January who witnessed you destroy the clubs image and reputation.
Enough ranting. I just dont like the guy.

EL- Windass
Negredo? Is this a joke? Is this either a very early, or rather late April Fools joke?
Picture this: You are banging in goals left right and centre in a lovely hot country with a team that seems to revolve around you. Phil Brown and his army of tigers (growl) come a-calling and your already packing your bags?
Maybe I'm getting a little carried away here, but I just cant understand the reasoning behind WHY he would want to move to Hull? Is this a Berbatov situation, where it is merely a stepping stone to greater things? OR will he become the next Dean Windass and become a hero in that part of the town. If he does go there (provided he's injured against us) and stays for a number of years, then I salut him. Welcome to England El-Windass.

RE: Tottenham - A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away.........
With the new season about to start, for once we dont actually have a mass of 'hype' surrounding us. The guys over at DML (http://www.dearmrlevy.com/) touched on this and I for one agree. With our consistant pre season hype seeming to be quite 'low-brow' this time around, can this work in our favour? We all know Mr Triffic himself doesn't exactly shy from the media spotlight, but we seem to have been quitely going about our business, unlike the mass scramble that was the January transfer window.
This might have been a dull window so far, but the mass hysteria that us fellow Yids went through after the Roma bashing we gave last pre-season coupled with the signing of what can only be described as 'The New Beckham' you cant blame me for thinking that Harry is infact trying to do the exact opposite of what occured last season. No genuinely flashy signings, no prat jumping around in the background like a dog attempting to hump the owners leg, overall its a good thing - provided my theory works.
No hype + No flashy signings = Good season overall; 'Arry can dance around to Chas n Dave all summer long.
Hype + flashy signings + failure to handle hype = 2 points from 8 games; new manager and back to square 1
Fingers crossed this time around we actually have a chance of getting up with the mix. I can see our flashy football style bein slightly dulled a little, but for me its the winning - not the style.
