Cod4: MW2 - The gift and the curse

Apologies for the shite album name reference, but I figured it was necessary. I have this game over two platforms (originally PC, then bought a 360 and figured I'd get it on that) so I sort of have an idea of the game itself. I have never really been a fan of first person shooters (FPS for short) on any form of console, besides the Halo series and I've always been shit at that. So when I decided to pick MW2 up on the console I was sceptical to say the least. But DAMN that game is addictive. It pushes you to become better. After getting the epic kill/death ratio of 9-12, 10-32 or (my personal favourite) 3-21 I actually took some time out to try and get better. That might sound a little sad, but I was just getting laughed at by random Americans on mic (more on that later)
On the PC, something just put me off MW2. The fact that matchmaking was in place was a massive let-down. Dedicated servers are what made FPS games unique. Having a game on the map YOU want with the amount of people YOU choose gives the player a sence of freedom. Given the choice of 360 or PC, 360 wins hands down. No lag, no worries about frame-rates, no need to over-clock your card. Good times!
But, there is a downside to the 360 version. Players/ certain maps. The game itself is great - so I probably shouldn't hate on it for this reason...
Of course there are going to be maps that I dont like. That's down to personal opinion and taste; but why are certain maps DESIGNED to be frustrating. Poor level design comes from not playing FPS games originally; that is evident in some cases. For instance, Karachi. Why are there areas in which the opponent can climb right to the top (and higher, found glitches... more on that at a later date) to fire where I spawn?? The same goes for Invasion and in some cases Quarry.
OK, saying that is the equivalent of trying to get through a brick wall by licking it, can be done.. but not really needed. The game is great overall but there will always be some things to let it down imo.
Players are a problem, but I cant fault the game for that... If you are on 360 late at night you might as well stick your head in a microwave. It'd probably do your brain as much good. Some of the stupid 'individuals' that come online who start there ridiculous whining and their common 'tea and crumpets (har har har)' comments just make me want to hit something or someone in the face with a shovel. Trash talking is part of the game nowadays and I understand that (fuck, I do it abit..) but I really think people should be given an IQ test before being allowed onto XBOX live. I swear, this happened last night...:
American1: Wah wah wah (cant remember exact words, but was crying about some other American who wouldnt stop saying he was from Salt Lake and needed to go ice skating)
Me: *Laughing on mic* tell him man.
American1: oh... your British
Me: Yep. English, London. So?
American1: G'day mayyyyteee - Man I'm glad Steve Irwin is dead
Me: errr... that's Australia you dumb fuck.
American1: bullshit.
No more needed is there....
